Lesson 69

Matenga Turns Water into Medicine

Then it was the next morning, on Monday.

Those people who had come for Easter had not yet left.

Matenga looked among her people and saw the crying of very many people saying, “What shall we do so that we do not return without the water medicine?”

Now Matenga knew their thoughts.

She said that in the morning before the sun rose, all the people woke up and entered the Mudivi singing the song, “Lord , we have gathered here in your house.”

Matenga came out of the house and said with a loud voice, “Go to the river with your containers and fill them with much water.”

Then the women went to draw that water and brought it in their containers. See St. John 2:1-12.

Three hundred and fifty buckets full of water were gathered.

Matenga prayed over these buckets full of water; they all became various medicines.

They were for various ailments such as: headaches, eyes, back, asthma, pregnancy issues, and various other ailments that I have not written down.

Matenga said, “Take the book where the medicines needed by the people are written.”

Matenga began to pray over all the water in each container, saying, “This is the water for the medicine for pregnancy; this for headaches; this for prosperity; this for the blind; this for the mute; this for the mentally ill; this for those who are full with children; until all kinds of ailments were finished, which I have not written down.”

I saw very many people singing for that water, and it was changed and became medicines.

Those people took that water with very great joy.

Some took it and drank it, some took it and went with it to their homes, and others went with it to their various villages.
