Matenga’s Departure from Her City
Matenga took her people who were eager to go with her.
She took VaChakanyuka’s and VaMakuyana’s vehicles.
These vehicles carried people who followed Matenga , who said, “Where she dies, there we will also die.”
They were of one heart.
Not a wavering heart.
But Matenga was in VaChakanyuka’s vehicle; it was driven by VaChakanyuka himself.
Makuya and other people were also there.
They sang, “See your people, O God , for you always look after them”; they spent the night in Harare.
Then they went to Murehwa, for Matenga’s word had been made known, saying, “Let them come here to Murehwa.”
Matenga then went there. Upon arrival, she met with the local district official.
The district official said, “I do not know what King Mangwende will say, but for my part, I have agreed.”
“That she may do her work here.”
But they had already built small huts before Matenga arrived.
The next day, word had already reached King Mangwende, saying, “Do not give her a place there; refuse.”
This came from those who were saying that Matenga should not leave her City .
When King Mangwende heard this, he met with Matenga ; he said to her, “There is no place for you, Matenga , here in my land.”
“I do not even want to hear about your praying or your prayer ; this is my land.”
“You must return to where you came from; I do not want you here.”
Matenga was with Mr. Mhundwa, Mai Chiromo, Baba Chiromo, and Mai Maocha; they met with the district official of Murehwa in the morning.
When they left there, they found that Mr. Mhundwa’s wife had given birth to a baby girl in the camp where they were staying.
But they departed while the umbilical cord was still fresh.
They went with it to Mutare.
It was on a Friday; they arrived at King Zimunya’s place in the evening, at night.
